Our History


George Weston began his career at the age of 12 as a baker’s apprentice and went on to pursue his love of baking. He climbed the ranks and became a bread route salesman, and in 1882 he laid the foundation for Weston Bakeries.

By the turn of the century, Weston’s bread was known throughout the city, and George Weston was Canada’s largest bakery, providing bread, biscuits and confectionaries across the country. His son shared his love for baking, and continued to pursue his vision of producing the best bakery possible, growing the company in sales and breadth.

Weston Foods has grown from a start-up bakery to North America’s premier foodservice bakery provider. Every year in North America, we sell 1 billion+ hot dog and hamburger buns, 2.8 billion+ sandwich carriers, 1.3 billion+ table bread products, and 10 billion+ donuts!

We craft a range of foodservice bakery items, serving up the very best for all operations from fast food to fine dining, and everything in between. Our bakeries all meet or exceed regulations, are GSI-certified and are FDA FSMA-compliant, so you can rest assured your customers are in good hands.
